100W H4's into early car...wiring help needed.
I know many of you are going to say "use the search button, dummy", but it's a case where there's TOO much information. Too many results to look through.
I have a 69 T, shiny new H4s, and a pair of relays to power the 100W bulbs I got for them. Questions: Do I need to run new wire from the light all the way to the fuse block? Currently it's OEM from 1969. I don't know how to wire up the relays...is there a schematic pertinent to my particular car I can use? Any detail in this regard very welcomed. Thanks...and sorry for the obvious repost.

There is a member that sells a relay kit and it comes with excellent instructions. Perhaps, since you already have the relays, he'll e-mail you a copy of the instructions. Can't remember his name, but someone here will.
If I remember correctly, you only need heavier wire from the headlights to the relays. Everything else stays stock. |

needs to be 12 gauge wire or better but the concern in the higher wattage was melting the points together in the switch, I have a 81 harness in my car and have been running 55\100 watt H-1's for 26 years I did fuse a switch but have had no problem with it since I did the relay upgrade 16 years ago. As for your car I would consider running new wire from the headlights to the relay just because in 40+ years the insulation starts to break down then you have that nasty ole electrical fire.
http://www.eagleday.com/neauwi.html Try these guys they have I believe wire in the proper color code to maintain authenticity and upgrade your wire at the same time

Yes, I do already have the relays, and access to the right kind of plug ends. I'd love the schematic though. Good advice running new wires from the headlights...I'll do that.

This pic isn't Porsche-specific, but it will give you an idea:

Danny...thanks, that's a great start. I don't have the OEM plugs in my headlights anymore either...any sense of where the yellow, brown and white wires go?
What gauge should I be looking to get to rewire these?

It would also be quite helpful if someone had a sucro wiring diagram.
