Question: What are these brakes?

Im planning a brakeupgrade and these calipers were offered to me:
Any guesses?

The should be 996tt rear calipers, but when compered these pictures to the ones on ebay, there was some small differences:

I will be able to check the caliber on weekend. And if they seem fine, so i will buy them. Then i will take the number for you to check.

I'd want to know exactly what they were, and if they were indeed an "upgrade" before I purchased them. Can you ID them before the weekend?

No, i cant ID them before... They have been already in a 911, and the adapters are also included. And im 99,9% sure, that they are an upgrade to stock brakes...

If those are the rears what are you planning to run up front and with what rotors? What are they going on anyway?? You don't mention what car you have.

And i was planning to run them with my original rotors.... lets see how it works.

Not that I'm an expert, but anytime you use a caliper that has more clamping power and a bigger pad area creating friction on a surface area designed for a smaller pad (ie: your stock rotor), the result is higher heat (from friction) generated and NOT being able to dissipate properly. That results is brake fade, possible boiling of fluid, premature failure of the rotor when the rotor is being used during 'exercise' at the track. If you are looking for the bling factor, spend away. A proper upgrade involves bigger rotors (or thicker rotors) to properly handle the increased clamping power of the caliper and bigger pad.

I don't think those rears will give you any "upgrade" if you plan to use them on the front.

Search Bill Verburg's name for upgrade threads and visit his webpage that gives you info on rotor sizing.

I hope that you are wrong. I'm not pro at these things either, but i still beleive that the desing in nearly 20 years newer calibers can easily outrun the old ones. Buuuut we´ll see

I got some new information from the seller... they were originally black with white Porsche text on the side. And they are ment for max. 28mm rotors.

I hope that i can get brembo code also soon...

If you look at the pads, they look like 996 pads, possibly rear

here is what full set of 996tt calipers looks like, maybe you can tell if they are the same as what you are looking at

the fronts are 36/44 and want a 330x34mm rotor, the rears are 28/30 and want a 330x28mm rotor.

Neither should be used on stock rotors because they are too small in both radius and thickness.

If you want to upgrade Carrera brakes start with the smallest rotors that don't get too hot in the way you use the car.

putting big calipers on small rotors does nothing positive for you.

the following is copied from a previous post

The heart of any BBK is the rotors

284x24 is just too small for quick 3000# car. so up grades come in the following steps

step1(fine for 90% of all users)
964 298x28 w/ Carrera rear 299x24, calipers would be 964 f/r or 996 f/r
996 318x28 w/ Carrera 299x24, calipers would be 964 f/r or 996 f/r

Step2(fine for 99.99% of all users)
930 304x32 or 993 304x32 f w 930 r 309x28, calipers would be 930f/r, 917f/r, 993 f/r, 993f/965r

Step 3(overkill for almost any car)
993tt 322x32f/322x28r, calipers would be 993tt f/r
996tt 330x34f/322x28r, calipers would be 996tt

Thanks Bill! Great advices!
But i'm still so stubbern, that i want to bang my head to the wall myself first. And then i will come to the same conclusion than you
But then i have the 996 rears ready for the step 1 upgrade
