Will an 3.0 engine running too lean or rich hve any affect on oil consumptio?
I'll simply ask it over, does an engine either running too lean or rich have ant affect on oil consumtion? Same question regarding a valve adjustment? '83 911SC. I don't understand how it could but thought I'd ask. Thanks

Excessively rich can eventually dilute the oil with gas makes it thinner and it can then get past the rings easier. Also excess fuel can wash down the cylinder walls leading to faster ring wear. Excessively lean will increase heat and can lead to detonation, detonation can cause an increase in oil consumption. Short periods of out of whack mixtures should not cause much if any increase in oil use but long periods of operation is undesireable for many reasons.
