Ha Wayne, you don't fool me !
On the picture of the engine bay you can see it is not a real 959 !

This supports my opinion that "updating" your 911 is throwing away money on 2 sides:
- you loose money on the parts and work
- you ruin the car itself

If he had invested the money in putting the car in its original state, it would have been a lot more valuable now.

The most beautiful 911 is the original one as it came out of Zuffenhausen, counts for all models from 1965 - 2008.....

With the smallish pictures of it, it sort of reminds me of a 959 golf-cart kit that I saw for my Club Car...

On the other hand it looks like it does have a 2.2 E engine in it. Which would also be incorrect for 1973.

I think all the "911R" and other "recreations" of today will be the 959's of yesteryear. Remember that the 959 you are seeing was "beautiful" at some point.

At first glance I could tell it was a bad conversion but when I looked harder that is when I felt a little ill and wondered why would they do that? If the kit was of higher quality I could understand.. Except that one was just terrible and I don't think any car should be subjected to that level of body kit. Which is sad because I'm a firm believer in letting people spend their money however they want...

"Updating or Backdating" same thing. Your changing the car. As others posted above, it was the trendy thing to do at one point. Cars that get the highest value don't have patch holes where someone took out the correct eight track player and smallish speakers and put in subbases and super tweeters, then you see them removed, and holes patched or the original sound system not present. Same with SSIs, a/c deletes, flares, POS's, and I'm no where near an expert on pcars. I'm not one to talk, my car is a Federalized (gray market) import from the 80's. Just making an observation.

You see these cars every now and then, with all the work done on them.
You can't help but wonder how many hours they spent doing the work?

Then you can't help but wonder WTF were they thinking to begin with!
