vented rotors in a non vented car
I was wondering if I could install vented rotors in my 69T that came with solid rotors. Are the M calipers the same on the T and E for 69.

Dennis,
The difference between ‘M’ calipers for vented and non-vented is a spacer between the caliper halves. It is much easier to replace the calipers than finding spacers, longer special ATE bolts and the sealing rings. Save your non-vented rotors and calipers for posterity. Find some ‘M’ calipers from a ’70-‘71T, ’72-‘73T, ’74 911 or 911S, ’75-’83 almost everything. The vented rotors are all the same from ’69 to ’83. Replace all four. Make sure the calipers are not rusty and stick or leak. ‘While you are there’ – replace the flex hoses with new stock OEM hoses. Tinkering may start the master cylinder to leak. Keep an eye out for that. Replacing the master cylinder and the pedal assembly plastic bushings with original OEM is normal maintenance – say every five years to be safe. When you have the rear rotors off; clean, service and adjust the parking brake. Changing the front rotors presents a good opportunity to clean and repack the front wheel bearings and replace the seals and O-rings. Best, Grady
