Carrera headlight rings??

Today I saw an 85 Carrera with these painted rings around his headlights that weren't like mine.Instaed these kinda looked like eyebrows...they covered the top part of the headlight in addition to going around it.I would like to see about putting them on my car.Does anyone know what this type is called and where I can purchase it by chance? Thanks, john

That would be taking a step backwards. The rest of the world got the H4 headlights without the sugar scoops, but thanks to U.S head light regulation we got sealed beam lights with the sugar scoops. Many of us pay a lot of money to upgrade to the H4's.

They were stock up to I think 1986 or 1987 when they went to H5's which is probably what you have. They look very similar to H4's.

Yeah. You can get the Hella H4's that retain the sugar scoops but I don't know how they compare to the Bosch units.

You will need to change the lights. What you see on that car are aftermarket lights by.... (I can't think of the name right now )

If you have the H5's, I believe you will also need to replace the plug on the wiring harness, right?

BTW, the H4 replacements for 7" sealed beams in the sugar scoops aren't bad. Bought some from out host. They come in Euro or DOT--the DOT has the required aiming nipples and the Euro have the sharper cutoff and a slightly flatter face, which is what I put in my '68. I like them. Think about relays as well...

I always thought the sealed beams/sugar scoops looked 'uncircumcised'!

Like a lot of things it comes down to personal taste. I have the "sugar scoops" on my car. It came that way & I like the look. Several folks have suggested I "upgrade". I don't see it as a upgrade. I prefer the original design. It is like the huge whale tail or 18 inch rims, I prefer stock, so I have no tail & original 7&8s 15 inch Fuchs. Different strokes for different folks.
