2008 Colorado Grand

The 2008 Colorado Grand starts tomorrow and ends Saturday morning, the 20th, in Vail with a concours d'non-elegance. Y'all come to Lion's Head on Saturday to see the cars just as they completed the 1,100-mile drive, bugs, dirt, and all.

The event, now in its 20th year, has so far generated almost $3 million for small Colorado charities, and we expect to contribute another $250,000 this year. About 90 pre-1960 sports cars from around the world will include six pre-war Alfa Romeos, seven Bugattis, four pre-war Bentleys, and 25 1950s Ferraris plus a 550 and a center-seat RSK. Other cars include a Lagonda, a couple of Siatas, an Osca, several Allards, an HRG, and three or four C- and D-type Jaguars. Oh, and the 300SL that won Le Mans in 1952. In other words, it's a moving museum! If you come to Vail on Saturday, arrive early, as the show will be over by noon.
