have you thought about just flying into Kansas City and driving it back?

I've used DAS enclosed. Good.

They had gps so I could look online to see where the car was in real time. Was there when they unloaded it at the terminal - didn't pay the extra to have it delivered to my house.

Have heard that FedEx enclosed is also good.

Would not ship on an open carrier.

Good: Passport/Fedex and Intercity.
Bad: Horseless Carriage.

This time of year, I'd drive it home. Easy to do on a weekend and the weather right now is incredible. Scenery is probably nice in the NE.

Hey if you pay my flight out and expenses I can drive her back to Boston, I live about 4 hours north of you, then you can drive me home for your first test drive.
Good references 57 years young with many years experience as a P-Car driver, and quite responsible I might add, although I would like a couple of extra days to visit my son and his wife in Bloomington Ill. Think about it!

We bought a car and had it shipped by DAS. It arrived with the >$1000 stereo stolen in transit. They paid us $150 for the loss. YMMV

Best of luck, and have fun with your new (to you) car. By the way, the auto shipping business is fairly unregulated. (Personally, I think most people involved in it are schysters.) Those shipping timeframe estimates are fairly worthless, no matter who's promising them to you. As are the assurances of full insurance. But I think companies like FedEx, Intercity, and Horseless Carriage tend to be more reliable than volume shippers like DAS. Took me 5 weeks to get cross-country with DAS, once. They only delivered the car when I threatened to report it stolen if they couldn't locate it.

I have used InterCity three times. Once to ship a 1958 Alfa Giulietta to Ma. from Co. Later to ship a Spider Veloce back from Ma. to Co., and lastly to bring an 88 Carrera from Scottsdale to Colorado. All were enclosed.

All three were expensive, ($1,000.00ea.) but the communication was excellent, and the cars arrived when they said they were going to arrive. I thought the care and security given to the cars was very good, and I was speaking to the truck driver as he/she were within one day from arrival, and then 2-3 hours before arrival so that I could meet them at my home. Except for the cost, (nothings free) I was very happy.

No that's not me. The old Marine Corps Drill Instructor (Dad) had to be there for the arrival.

Shipping is expensive no matter what. I had my car shipped from Michigan to CA and it was about $800 for an open trailer.

If it was me I would probably take on the 22 hours of driving a 911. My trip from Richmond, VA back to NJ was too short. Didn't want any suprises with shippers. But that's me.
