Hot wire maintenance

I bought this MAF system

(the one I posted about before Bosch Air mass meter + Wong chip)

My question is: Can I perform maintenance on the sensor itself? And if yes, how?
I can imagine that over the years the sensor (wire) corrodes, gets dirty a little bit, due to air humidity and all kinds of stuff. Is there a way to ' freshen up" the sensor so that it is newish again. Can I clean it with solvents, do I....????

Thanks guys,

Hope to get dyno results to you soon.

You can buy MAF sensor cleaner that comes in a spray can.

Stlrj is correct.

Most I know use the CRC product. I've used it but it's ability to restore the MAF to "like new" condition is limited. However, it's the next best thing to buying a new sensor.

Several suppliers carry it and some autoparts stores as well.
