Video - My SC After Rebuild - Breaking Her In

I finished rebuilding my 3.0 a few weeks ago. I did some mild upgrades - 9.5 JEs, 964 cam grind, SSIs, and a Dansk sport exhaust 2 in 1 out.

Currenly the car has just over 400 miles on it. The last couple of weekends I took her out on some country roads in order to get some solid RPM changes - 3 days and 100 miles each day.

The beginning of the video demonstrates warm idle. I have couple of loose valves which I will address once I hit the 500 mile mark. The oil pressure guage is pegged at 5 b/c I broke the sending unit when doing my heater back date last weekend (oil pressure was fine for the initial crank and the first 150 miles of driving). The remainder of the video is simply driving and getting RPMs up at 3/4 throttle. Tried keeping RMPs at or below 5k.

Anyhow, it has been fun so I wanted to share.

Sounds really good!
I know you don't have many miles on it but could you feel any significant change in the basic character of the engine? Does the engine seem more peaky with different cams?

Without a doubt it feels much stronger. I think that it will all shake out once I get to 1000 miles - after the rings are completely seated. Also, I didn't have SSIs on the old engine. I don't think that I will be able to pin point any particular upgrade as being the reason for better performance. I just hope that all of them together make for a more powerful / responsive engine. I am loving it so far - feels like a brand new car. Truly amazing.

I am still in the process of tuning as well. I decided to buy new injectors b/c the current injectors were rather dirty. Although I had them cleaned, I would still feel better using a new set.

That sounds great. Geez, makes me miss my old 911 that's for sure. What a legendary engine the 3.0L was (is), and with 964 cams and JE pistons t just comes alive I bet.

Hey umm....you got that camera strapped to you chest or something or are you doing that one handed ? (I must be getting old if I' worrying about that sort of thing)

cool. sounds great!

your clutch pedal needs a squirt of oil :-)

Dyno now! I want to compare.

Ha! Yes, the clutch pedal needs some lube. I really never paid much attention to it until I watched the video. It could be binding a little. I will have to investigate.

The camera was in my left hand, shifted with right, and held wheel with legs. It was a straight, well-paved road so it wasn't too dangerous. That X-Terra at the end was the only car I passed over the course of 40 miles or so.
