Now horn wont work. What did I do???

Today I received both the steering wheels I ordered and decided to go take the old one out so I could see which one I wanted to keep.I found two for sale at the same time and could n't decide so I got both and figured as quick as things move around here and on Ebay,I would just sell the one I decided not to use.I put it in and now no horn.I thought I unhooked the battery and rehooked it up when I should. But I can't be certain...I am a competitive bodybuilder and I am carb depleting right now.I should have known to wait, but was excited as both wheels looked kewl. When you carb deplete you loose much of your short term memory. This is that day for me.Sooo after a couple of hours to do what should have taken 30 minutes,I am doen but my horn wont work.I looked in my manual etc...to see if there is a horn fuse, but found none(again I am pretty stupid today).CAn soemone please shine soem light for me as I would like very much to use my horn.Thansk alot...john

I'm more familiar with earlier cars so I may be wrong here, but I believe there is a relay for the horn on your car. On earlier cars it is a round, black relay located by the fuse box--usually toward the font end of the car, close to the battery.

You may wish to check that, but you may also want to use the search button and look for some similar threads as things get a bit tricky with the horn contact button, spring, and connectors, when replacing a wheel.

Again, I'm not sure of the relay position in your year car, but it's a start and others with experience will post soon, I'm sure.

It might be something as simple as having the two wires attached "backwards", if you will...

WEll more specifically( I suppose) I have one male post on the back of the horn button and one on the horn retainer ring. This is a MOMO set up.where does the wire that comes through the hub attach? This is the wire that is factory on the 911.Should it plug into the MOMO horn button, that has one post?Or should it plug into the horn button retainer ring post?thanks...john

The wire that comes through hub should plug onto the steering wheel horn pad. The steering wheel should, in turn, have a copper sprung leaf approx 2 inches long that rides along the rim of the column.

To test your horn, just ground that wire to the rim and see if the horn blows. If it does, at least you'll know the horn still works and the wiring is all good.

I assume you have the MOMO adapter kit, alighn it with the blinker turn off switch at 9:00 (dead left). That will align your horn power at top dead center, you can see it with adapter off, thin metal piece, the wire runs thru the inside of adapter, the you install your horn ring, again it has another wire commimg off it, then you attach the horn button retainer, the MOMO buttons have 2 wire connerctors that will acceots 1 one of each of the 2 wires, I don't believer it matters which goes where, if no-go, reverse them. Also when you just have that adapter on ,I believe #231, take the wire inside it and touch it to the adapter housing itself and the horn should blow, as you are grounding the circuit or "completeing it". Good luck

Though carb depleted and thinking it had to be that...I am pleased to find that it was in fact the Dino hub that didn't line up in the correct place to make contact with the horn or blinker turn off switch.I decided I would make it work and so I drilled another hole in the hub that repositioned the hub properly with regard to the plastic Porsche piece that needed to pass thru hub. Long story short...it's all good now...I got to keep the wheel I wanted as well as the horn and blinker working properly....peace,john
