Pedal cluster experts please help

I purchased a rebuilt Pedal cluster for my 74 911 from a reputable source on this board and just noticed difference in positioning of the clutch shaft between my original pedal cluster and rebuilt one I purchased.

Original: Clutch Cable Arm where it attaches to Clevis is in the VERTICAL position

Rebult Cluster: Clutch Cable Arm where it attaches to Clevis is in the HORIZONTAL position, pointing to rear of car.

Seems to me the Original Pedal Cluster has the correct postiioning. If correct, I assume I just need to remove the retaining pin and reset the clutch cable arm so it is in the Vertical position.

Experts please respond.

Can not see it from here..LOL .. but While you are there drill the tube for Zerk fitting in a couple spots. I rebuilt mine a few yrs ago with brass bushings and recently had to go back into it replace the clutch pin as it had worn through the bushing !! Used a 3/8 one (if I remember right) bigger bushing too from ACE and put in a bigger throttle bush as it was gone too. Now it works better then new !!
I do not consider my self a expert ....but the obvious I can reconcile.

Pedal Assembly.......

AshEvan,

Your old pedal cluster has the correct orientation. If you change the pin set-up for your new pedal cluster, it will rotate 180° and will be pointing toward the front of the car. Which is still not the correct position.

Could you post a picture of the pedal cluster in question? Someone might offer you a better solution after seeing it. Good luck.

Tony

I just rebuilt mine this past weekend so fresh in my mind. With my clutch pedal in it's normal position, the clevis should be pointing at the windshield. For the life of me I can't imagine how it could be put together and have the clevis pointing at the rear of the car. The roll pin can only be 180 degrees of so if incorrectly assembled the clevis would point at the ground.

Only other thought, when you're checking the new one, is that with the clutch pedal on the firewall or pulled back to it's normal operating position. If you're viewing while on the firewall, then you could be off 180. But that's all i can imagine.

Thanks for the responses. Upon inspection of my pin hole placement, it should be off centered from the direction of the pin hole arm, my rebuilt pedal cluster has the hole in exactly the same area as the pinhole arm i.e. pin arm should be at 12, pin hole at 3, my rebuilt cluster is pin hole arm at 3, pin hole at 3 . . . LOVELY.

The only thing I can think is that another pin hole was dirlled for a modified application. I will disassemble and see it there are truly 2 sets of pin holes.

Thanks again.
