newer 911's dont wave back at me, i shed a tear everytime.
|
I just think its a new porsche owner/ asshat rich buisness person type of thing to do. I pretty much guarantee he would have done the same thing to a car equal to his. Just making a specticle of himself to another porsche person. On that note, i admit im guilty of blowing by the occational porsche here and there myself :)

I wave/nod/smile at every 911 I see. Boxsters.......umm no. Cayennes tho yes.
|
SmileWavySmileWavy I'm sick. I try and wave at every Porsche I see....even if I'm not driving one of mine! And I'm an optimist. I think that every Porsche driver is trainable. It's up to US TO PASS ON THE TORCH of APPRECIATION. Maybe if enuff of us get off this diss thing we can convert them all! SmileWavySmileWavy

I remember days with my Dad in the Alfa, any time we'd see another Alfa on the road, you'd not only see the waves but flashing high beams sometimes blowing the horn, tits flashing, well, not really.. The Porsche wave should come naturally, its the magic that is shared between two Porsche owners passing at random both sharing the passion. I gave up on waving unless its an aircooled.

You got "Haha, my car payments bigger than yours."

A doctor friend of mine had a 996 and crashed it on a dry straight road, and now has a 997. He does not get it, and I suspect the tool in the turbo has no clue either. He probably went to the dealer asking for a 928 because he saw it in a Tom Cruise movie.

Try it in a 914. Almost no Porsche owners will wave at you, but lots of pretty girls tell you how cute your car is. Oh, and guys who think they know about cars tell you that's Not A Real Porsche- NARP. I tell them it's very real on the track. :)

was driving home from work one day - a car with some young girls pulled up and yelled.. "that car is so sexy" or something like that - I'm about 99% sure that was a diss. I was so flabbergasted, could think of anything to say back. I assumed they wouldn't even notice since the car was older than they were.

Does one finger count as a wave?

So, I stop at the bank this morning before I go to Starbucks for my Saturday morning Mocha Frapaccino Light and there is another guy there in a black 996 Cab. I notice it has dealer plates, MY '02 wheels and it is a tiptronic, other than that, nothing else to report. I ask the guy, "is that an '02?" He replies, "no, it is an '03." I then told him that I have the same wheels on my '95. He replies "really," then motors away. Heck, I'm at least trying! :D

I love these stories....but here is a cool one.
I'm at my local deli and I parked beside a 996 turbo cab. As I come out the owner of the 996 is looking my 73 over so I say hi. Some rich Dr. Dude who is a total Pcar nut. We chatted for an hour about the new VS old and how the brand was diluted in the late 90's and how they are redeming themselves with racing..........it was great. Guy even gave me his card and said lets go for a P car cruise. So SOME guys do still get it. Even if they are driving a 996 turbo cab! |

Sweeping generalizations (If he drives a water cooled car he knows nothing about it and is just a poser)
There are MANY drivers of new and newer Porsches who totally get it. Our monthly PCA autocross event sells out really quickly with over 100 drivers each time and I have to say that the majority of cars that show up are water coolers. Tons of Boxsters, Caymans, 996's and 997's, Cabriolets included. These men and women compete HARD and love driving their cars. |
