Tach wiring for track 911
My data aquisition box and Racepak dash are in CA for service and I would like to get the old stock tach back in operation. What wires are required to the tach for it to operate? I have the signal wire from the DME and I assume I need 12V and a ground. Any other connections needed?

You did it mention the year of the tachometer.. If is an early (Pre-72) it will not respond to a low level signal from the DME. In that case you will need a TACH-ADAPT Unit to convert the signal. These are available from Pelican under part number PEL-TA-V3.

DME is from a '96 and the tach is a '87

You should not need any adapter for your combo. The 87 tach should accept the tach signal from that DME. Unfortunately I'm on vacation right now and don't have access to my info at home otherwise I could tell you the pin assignments on rear of tach. You should need just 3 connections: power, ground and tach signal.

No joy. I have 12V at the blk/red pin and the brown wire is grounded. Tach signal comes in on blk/violet wire. Needle does not move. I do have a Patrick Motorsports adapter wiring harness that has some kind of device on the tach signal wire. Could this be a factor?
