This was my 914/3.2...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224190842.jpg

Great street/track fun. Mid-engined joy chasing down and passing 3.2 powered 911's. But if a quality 914 is now a $15,000 car, a 914/3.2 is more. WAY MORE. Sold it last X-mas.

I'll play also,

My 6/ conversion.

High comp 3.2
Webers
Web 20/21
Short gearbox
RSR suspension
Full cage

Big fun

JP, that rear tire looks like it's barely holding on.

I have a friend in Ohio that doesn't frequent this board much. He has a pristine 85 Carrera (national concourse winner a few years back), and also owns multiple 914's from almost stock all the way to FP trim. He was telling me the other day that he hasn't driven the 911 in over 2 years.....he enjoys the seat-of-the-pants fun of the 914 too much.

WOW thanks for all the posts and feedback!!

Nice cars posted for sure. I am about ot put one of the 911's into the paint shop and when it comes out I probably won't work on it as much so I wanted another toy. Plus my commute went from 62 miles a week to 100 a day. So I like driving something fun since I am in the car so long now.

As far as the rust. If you get one that has been repaired or rust free, Are they likely to flare back up with rust or can you POR15 it and subdue the rust?

They seem to be little to choose from on the east coast rust free so I may not be able to get one local.

Thanks
Phil

I too have a thing for 914s. This was my first car, and it has stayed even as a trick 911 SC coupe came and went. Then a Boxster came and went.

Believe it or not, I just pulled this apart last March and it's in bare metal. Time to delete the bad rear reflector from a PO, lower the driver's seat, add a longitudinal stiffening kit, and get the sides straight(er). Then I'll keep adding to its 250,000~ miles. It drives like a 80,000-100,000 mile car, despite 35 years of spirited service on Bay Area backroads — a testament to the 914's quality so long as it is not abused.

While I've learned to LOVE the 911s in almost every format, a good 914 is a whole 'nuther addiction. On the right day, and in the right mood, a 914 is hard to beat for pure fun. They're no replacement for a 911, but good 914s are definite keepers.

Here is mine, 1970 2.8 Twin Plug. I have owned many, many 911's from SWB 911S to 79 Turbo w/356hp, and lots in between. My 914 is the absolute, most fun of them all. 2000# with 265hp in the middle is big fun!

This was 914 #2 and my current 911. This was taken the year I bought the 911sc in 2001.

I still want a nice 914, but in a wild factory color.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224207873.jpg

Miss mine but it was just too slow.

Bumping an old thread, now I finally found one that was not rusted out. Had to ship it from Texas but it was in range of the nice semi rusted ones n this side of the world. It takes some getting used to the power or lack there of, but a pretty fun little car to drive as long as you keep it above 3K. Got it from a guy on 914world.
