MotorMeister Help
My MM situation has past its first critical stage. I went through the Department of Consumer Affairs' Bureau of Automotive Repair (DCA/BAR) which was a very enlightening and informative experience and will be taking this to the next level.
Clearly the odds favor numbers. If any of you would like to learn more and possibly participate (the odds favor numbers), please send me a note. Wayne / Moderators: I apologize if this is off topic.

If you could search the archives on my "experience" it may be helpful to you.
As I learned, there is nothing illegal about (re)building a shoddy motor in California - there are "standards" regarding transmissions though. The BAR probably told you this. The BBB route is a total waste of time. I am afraid that MM knows this well, and those guys seem to operate at the outer edge of legality, IMHO. You may learn that the final option is a potentially expensive and drawn out court battle. I would guess that MM has been there a "few" times, and knows how to cover their butts. All my opinion, of course. I wish you the best of luck. Regards, Kurt P.S.: Your best action may be a very fair description of what happened to you posted for all to see. I am only guessing, but I think my experiences posted here and other places may have probably redirected more money away from MM than my losses; this makes me happy that I may have stopped other folks from what I had to endure. |

Kurt,
Your PS is right on. I was considering having them rebuild one of my motors until I read a few of your threads and what others had posted. Atleast you guys can take a little comfort in knowing that by posting your experiences others won't have the same deal. . It just really sucks that this type of thing has to happen.. . --Alan 206AA 1968 911 Targa 2.4t |

Argghh! Its like finally getting a wound to scab up and then ripping it off. It just plain sucks to open up old wounds.

I considered buying a motor from them before reading threads about problems people have had with them. I'm sorry you had trouble with them, but by posting threads like this you are doing two things: preventing others from the same unfair experiance, and you have cost them a sale and the oppertunity to take advantage of another person.
If there is anything I can do to help, send me a pm.

You don't really need to read any BBS to determine what MM is all
about. Just call Pelican or another supplier and price the basic parts; e.g. barrels & pistons, for a proper rebuild. You'll find that with good parts alone, no one can rebuild a motor for the prices being quoted even without labor. I guess some people always want to ignore the phrase, "There's no free ride/lunch in life". Motor rebuilding is not a commodity service like a car wash, the one performing the service can add (exact torques) or remove (damage bearings) a lot of value from the final product. Good luck Loren Systemsc.com |

Man - You don’t realize how bad MM has it on here until some cat posts the same reply to every MM post.
