Wifes,..and the growl

Well,..the wife wanted to get the car SHE really likes,..and handle it ALL on her own (yet through a friend of mine),..with NO input from me....(any of you guys' encountered such a parameter?) She had her budgeted amount to shop with and I agreed to stay out of the loop....her SOLO project,...it would be a brand new one (of whatever),..[[[no used stuff for the Wife]]]..

She comes home with the new Mercedes (the lower end one of this class). I've driven' the car ONCE....much to learn (with the paddle)...but, no doubt, she'll haul some very quick arse.......not yet taken this heavy pig out on my weekend twisties.

Couldn't help but snap a shot of my ***** (the '89 911) parked in front of this damned Benz', providing a growl, nose to nose.

I SO hope the 911 isn't pissed (we all know what that can mean)...I've convinced her (911) that I've no relationship with this new car,..I still think she's (911) pissed that I pay for it...

time will tell.

Sorry for the OT,..maybe something "technical" will come of it...

Best,

Doyle

The 911 is saying "Hello immediately depreciating asset."

I figured that "wives and the growl" referred to when you are clipping along, downshift, hit the growl pedal, and they say "tell me before you do that so I don't get whiplash!".

My wife practically MADE me get a new car as a daily driver...ended up with a new A4 and absolutely love it. Not having to worry about panicking to fix crap on a weekend is awesome, and it's got a/c...that really works. Nice car BTW....both of them.
Porsche and Audi are cousins, aren't they?

Nice. I have to ask, though. Is that your house?! That thing's HUGE!

Well it's no 997, but your wife certainly could have picked a much worse vehicle to come home with. I wouldn't kick one of those out of my garage!

3 months ago my wife bought a Mini Cooper S while I was out of town
Could of been worse, she could have brought home a civic!

She claimed whenever I shop for a car with her, we always end up getting the one I like.

Little does she know she bought the exact car I would have picked for her, oh well I think she got
yanked by about $2k on the deal cause of no haggling!

Yes, it is....(the house,..) We do have a bit of overkill square footage (I'll admit),...so, WTF?

I've yet to spend time with this car (Benz) so I've much to learn,...as this monster showed up in the driveway,..after I looked at the specs on these model renditions, it was clear 500-600 HP world was quite expensive...and I WILL NOT ALLOW a $150-160K buy be anything other than what I want it to be....but back to $102K sticker prices.......this beast will haul it in a straight line,..I can only imagiine what 600 HP would do....still, we've curves to engage....

My P-ride doesn't like her,..I sense it already,..betcha' I've a frikin new oil leak tomorrow AM..and it won't be on the Benz'

I'm looking forward to trying this "paddle arrangement" for manual engagement, along with some suspension switches (response/control states, of sorts)...so,.......we shall see. I LIVE with my 911 on the weekends,..early AM 2 hour jaunts...so,..I've some thing to reference to (this visceral thing),..which, I believe to be COMPLETELY relative...this "disconnect" from "feel" is certainly "relative",..as one would quickly learn any new challenges such as power steering, or other things of such disconnect.......I think one relearns the controls and adjust accordingly,..inanycase,....

now chiropractic styled vibrations, transmitted through the joints is another variation of "visceral".....

...all I know is that she's happy,...God help us all, and know, this is important to everyone's well-being.

...STILL,..I would have bought a Porsche....(if I were her.)

oh well,....

That is a VERY nice car. Beautiful home, and the Mercedes is quite nice as well. Maybe less expensive to keep the wife happy (overall) than the Porsche. She may need some additional attention to make her more accepting of the new addition......
Man, are the new wheels and tires really that big?

Regards
Karl

Haha, that Benz is going to be more hassle than any 80s Carrera

Seen a consumer reports vehicle reliability listing lately?

Oh no, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I didn't mean any offense. On the contrary, that house is incredible. Very nice. Nice grounds too.

Beautiful cars. Both of them.

Nice cars, nice pad Doyle.

I like the Igloo coolers out front too. Gives the pics just a touch of the "Beverly Hillbillies".

Just kidding

At least they're both from the same city. If she'd have bought a BMW, your 911 would have rightfully started a mechanical protest.

If Mama knows how to wheel a car, I wouldn't advise that.
If your (Hers) MB is anything like mine, you will love it, and I have not had a single issue in 100k. And I drive a bottom of the MB barrel C class. They really are good cars, she made a good (IMO) choice.

gotta' keep the Wife happy.......(don't we all?). We've agreed to keep the Benz parked farthest away from my 911 (I get one end of the garage,..she gets the other end).

...stevemfr: I'll get the coolers moved,..just for you. I hear those banjos playing (although it's Bela Flek....)

Best to all,

Doyle

mmmm, bela fleck....

Nice ride. Could have done much, much worse. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

You might want to post a pic so we can make further judgments on your lifestyle and choices.
