Rear brakes binding in reverse ?

Odd thing, wanted to check with you guys... I got new track pads on my SC and the track day turned out shorter than expected (clutch issues) so I did not wear out the pads very much at all...

I noticed that the car will stop within a foot or so if I reverse slowly and let it coast. It won't do that forward, it coasts normally... I asked my mechanic about it and he said it had to do with the rear pads not being bedded properly yet...

Can someone explain (or disprove) this to me ? I don;t get why it would do it in reverse and not forward...

I'd be checking the parking brake. Drum brakes are more prone to that type of problem than the disc brake.

I forgot to say, that was my first thought as well... But the handbrake is fine, no issues according to him, just rear brake pads "too new".... Is it even possible ? why in reverse only ?
