Winter projects 2008-2009?

Well, since no one has started it yet, thought I would. What are your projects for this "offseason".

Well, nothing broke this season so I may not "need" to do anything.

I would like to replace the carpet with new and get a new power amp for the stereo.

Shocks/strut inserts
Turbo Tie roads.
Reposition/redrill aftermarket driving lights
Reseal brake calipers.
Bleed clutch/brakes
Figure out what else might be wrong and spend money fixing I guess.

Before winter
Replace turn signal switch
Put in H5's
Wire up Surco relay for headlights
Redo heater hoses so I can still drive when it gets cold

For the winter
Swap to thicker torsion bars in order to run larger wheels
Put on 16x7 wheels that have been in the gararge over a year

By the way Shane I notice you don't have a list. if you want to help I'm sure I can find something for you to do...

Replace some fuel lines, new intake manifold gaskets, give the brakes a hard look, maybe new discs/hoses/rebuild the calipers if I see a "need", (they work fine, now, but I noticed a ridge on one of the fronts this summer, so in my mind it has now become a wafer-thin recipe for disaster) some dynamat under the seats and in the doors, get a golf ball dent removed fom the hood. Maybe do a REALLY NICE job buffing out the paint

I'd like to find an alloy wheel for the space saver spare. Cookie cutter? Phone dial?

-Install OEM radio
- Repair replace power lock switch on console
-Repair replace seat switches, thank god only 2 on Drivers side, pass side is manual.

That would be when there's 4 feet of snow outside! Do a search for snow, you'll soon get the picture!

My plan:

Have Dan Petchel rebuild my spare Targa top and send me a new front seal.

Remove the headlights and get rid of the 'fog'

Install a new FTP switch.

Trace some electrical gremlins (light under the dash doesn't come on no matter what, engine bay light doesn't work)

Maybe a SW chip.

Cheers,

Paul.

Complete suspension refresh with new Bilsteins, turbo tie rods, and new rubber bushings everywhere.

Complete new interior, back to stock.

Repaint the trunk lid, front bumper and front quarters.

New windshield, new wheels, new tires.

Just cooling off enough that i don't break a sweat, THINKING, about turning a wrench.
Pull oil lines & try the "torch& comp air" approach. if that don't work ER finned lines.
New oil tank to cooler S hose.
Adjust valves while empty. probably backside method.
Replace last 2 old A/C hoses.
Rear wh.bearings.
Fresh 201 and Brad Penn 20/50
H4's

"What's off season? "

Winter, the 24 hours of rain we could possibly get in February. Temps dip into the 50's at night. Car on blocks. Battery tender. Oil change before & after. Mothballs. Rat traps. Stabil. Pressurized whole car bag.

Winter engine rebuilds are a bi**h here.

Then spring.

Two weeks left before the driving season's end. Ok....the list...targa front seal to replace...targa top skin to replace...doors panels to open due to some weird sound coming out from there...fuel filter...transmission ground strap is tired....And I have to remove the rear light housing due to some corrosion to clean...About it.

OK, no more winter jokes:

My big one is getting my new forged 17" Fuchs repros from Mr. Alton (quite soon!!) and getting my new Advan A048's mounted....and then driving! Then she gets a shock revalve and raised spindles with a little massaging for a bit more camber.

I should drop the engine and fix my cam tower-head oil drip, but that doesn't sound like fun.

I now have 5 cars and can't get enough energy to work much on the 89 911 - most of the time/money/energy spent on keeping the BMW's running for the wife and sons. If I made a list, it would be so long that I wouldn't do any of it. I'm hoping for the day when the sons will have jobs and get their own cars fixed. Then what will happen... I'll be doing the fixing for them after hearing what someone wants to charge.. so maybe no escape. Sorry if OT.

What size 'real' rim will fit in the space under the hood?

I might do that myself.
