pulled accelerator pump stud on webers...

Trying to track down a sudden popping/spitting through the exhaust issue after todays autocross and noticed one of my accelerator pumps leaks via the top when actuated.

i find that one of the top nuts seems to just spin the stud and never tightens. whats the fix for this? jb weld or something like that? i've never used the stuff but seems like this would be a nice place to use it. the nuts are quite small and i don't believe pressures put on them are much.

i need to fix this issue before i go back through the carbs to track down this new spitting/popping nonsense. appreciate any ideas.

You can either buy or make a repair stud, its the next size larger on the end to be repaired and same size as the nut side. Used in exhaust stud repair quite often.

resurface the cover while you're at it. they're usually warped. maybe the nut itself is stripped?

thanks guys. i did resurface both covers when i 'rebuilt' the carbs.

ya know it is entirely possible that the nut itself is stripped.....that would be awful nice!!!

aha, the NUT is stripped!!!

anyone happen to know the size so i can pick it up at the hardware store vs. ordering from pierce, etc.?

You dodged the bullet on that one. I don't recall the size, just take one of the good ones with you to match it up. Good luck!! Tony.

4mm. smaller than the carb top nuts, which are 5mm.

berettafan 10-21-2008 10:28 AM

dumb question here; are all 4mm nuts the same pitch?
