Throttle Plate Linkage, 3.2 Lit.
While checking the idle microswitch on a 1987, 3.2, I noticed
there was a delay of a few degrees between the point where the drag arm linkage starts to pull on the mating pin on the throttle plate linkage vs. when the microswitch breaks contact. All the linkages from the gas peddle up to the throttle plate appear to be in good condition; the 1mm gap down at the reversing lever (on the trans) is good, all the ball and cups are good and the throttle plate stop is set correctly and the micro switch is making contact with the stop. What should be the maximum clearance, other than normal clearance for the assembly, between the hole in the throttle plate lever and the pin where the drag linkage connects? Is this an item subject to wear? See picture below: ![]() |

I think that this is ok.
As long as the idle switch connects after the throttle hits the stop then the idle control system will do its job.
