Go to the back of your hazard switch with your test light and let us know what is at each pin with the hazard switch on and off. |
Here we go:

Sent a PM with the little excel table. Can't figure out how to upload a excel table as a picture...

I think I understand your post...although I have not figured out the answer yet. Does your hazard switch unplug or is it soldered in? Also, I note that you are using a test light. Do you have access to an ohm meter?

Solved, connected the blue-white cable between relais and rev meter lights to gnd. All works fine now (don't ask me why though....)

72 911 T No Turn Signal, Brake lights, Half of Emer flashers working.
My story is similar to others here except that I only have half the emergency flashers working. I had a bad drivers side bulb... I thought. It was loose. I tried to plug it back in and the bulb filled with smoke. OK. Bad filament. Got an 1157 and replaced the bulb. Turned on the turn signal and it worked... for about 10 seconds. The flashers started blinking really fast and then quit. I'm assuming that my brake lights failed at that time also. Turn signal works steady on both sides with the key off. I'm assuming those are the parking lights. Emergency flasher works on the passenger side only. Checked between the middle (31) and the left (49) and right (49a) sockets on the flasher relay. Both show 2v without the relay plugged in, the key on, moving the turn signal switch to the correct positions. Should they show 12V? Is it possible that the connections inside the turn signal switch fried and don't make a good enough connection? Or, most likely there is a ground problem? The red and white wire on the turn signal switch (terminal 30) is 12v with the key on or off. Looks like from the schematic that the grey wire is the 12v connection to the ignition switch from the schematic. I can't get inside the switch to check if the connections to the relay are getting the correct voltage. Doesn't seem like the turn signal switch is the problem though because it is pushing some voltage to the relay... just not enough. Another indication that I have a bad ground? How do the emergency flasher button and light switch come out of the dash? After reading this thread it looks like I need to check all the connections that those have in common and all the grounds. If the fuse (96) were blown, would that cause problems with the flashers? Any other suggestions? I have attached the schematic that I am working from.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1288460191.jpg

Using the correct bulb will probably solve your problem.

New correct lights didn't work. How does the light switch and hazard switch come out of the dash?

usually a 2 pronged gizmo needs to be bought or made up to unscrew a round nut with 2 slots in it; needle nose pliers ok if you don't mind the risk of bunging it up
but first, try tracing and testing along the wiring path |
Just so you know the 1157 that you installed is incorrect. Installing the wrong one likely took out a fuse. Are you still having the same symptoms? The light and hazard switch are unlikely culprits. The flasher "relay" is more likely...assuming the bulb and fuse are ok.

Removin the Collar Nut on the Switch
You can buy a special tool for that for around $50 but I found my Craftsman snap ring pliers (PN47384) work nicely. Set the pivot so the pins expand when you squeeze the handles (as in for external rings), carefully insert pins into collar nut and twist off.

Flintstone, I know now that the 1157 is incorrect. All the lights were incorrect. Unfortunately, every auto parts house lists the incorrect bulb. I have replaced them with 1034 and 1073s. All the fuses are good. The flasher relay is new. Half of the hazard lights do not work. No brake lights. Got the hazard switch out. Thanks. Couldn't see the clips on the back side. Checking it now.

Got the flashers all working except the left driver side rear... I unplugged the power (grey) wire from the iginition switch and plugged it back in and walla! The blinkers startred working again... for a while. Looks like a wiring problem for the rear light. I'm just having to work through the 38 year old wiring. It's tough. Some of it is so brittle that the casing cracks off when you move it. Next summer, new wiring harness. Thanks
