Slow to warm
Is there any way to install an oil temperature thermostat without removing the engine?
1986 Carrera 3.2 Thank you Last edited by gclemens; 10-30-2008 at 06:58 PM.. Reason: Wrong wording |

3.2's are slow to warm.. and on many trips will not really warm up to the first line. This is because there is no cooling air throttling like e.g. Corvair

My '89 3.2 is also slow to warm. I live in a rural setting so any driving I do is on 55-70 mph roads.
In the summer months with outdoor temps above 70*-75* it will take 15 mins to get the oil temp out of the first white block and on towards to first white line. Even then when I get into town and do some stop & go driving the temp never gets above the middle ( 9:00 ) postion on the gauge. I've never had my front cooler fan turn on. During the cooler months with outdoor temps at 30*-50* the oil never gets any warmer than half way between the bottom white block and the first white line. David

Yeap,..the cooler months brings the old gauge downward.......unless you let her idle.
Best, Doyle
