H4 Headlight Upgrade - need someone to check their H4s ...
I installed the Bosh H4 upgrade (part#301-800-103x2) on my 89 911 cab and noticed that both lights have the same pattern on the same side. It seems that it should be different so I was wondering if someone with H4s can check and see if they have the same pattern. TIA Andrew

H-4's are similar to my H-1's and the pattern is the same on both sides so it aims the light at the right place on the road if I am not mistaken the pattern for a RHD lens is reversed .

Yes, the light will be aimed when on low beam down and to the right so as to not blind oncoming drivers.
I guess down and to the left when the driver is on the right hand side. -kevin

Interestingly, H5 lenses throw a completely even light pattern with no cut-off at all. If aimed correctly, you're good to go regardless of which side of the road you happen to be driving on.

Any opinions on whether to put a clear protective cover to prevent cracks? Is that overdoing it or is there a real risk of a stone chipping the lens?

my lens are made of quartz and have been on the car for nearly 23 years without a clear cover my thought is wrong place wrong time and that plastic will not prevent the lens from breaking.
