The 'thing' that doesn't work is called an odometer. That will help in your search.

A common failure.

Thanks for your "clarification" (odometer) and suggestion that I try the "search function". I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I can't find the 'search function'. This is the first time I have used this website. Can you tell me how to find this and on what website page? Thanks!

What part of Texas???

I had a shop in Houston refurbish mine, plus replace the odometer gear that was starting to act up. Same day service. Tony.

I bought the replacement gear for under $30 and replaced it myself. Go check out
http://www.rennbay.com/odometer-gears-c-32.html
and also check out their tutorial page.

It's written for a 928, but once you get the speedo out of the dash, the instructions are the same. I also sent an email when I had a question and they responded right away.

Give it a try. It took me about an hour because I was taking pictures.
It's simple really. Shoot me an email if you have any questions.

To Search,

Go to the Blue toolbar (above the "Post Reply" button), to the word search. Type in "odometer". You'll get a long list of threads about your subject.

Several threads I've read said it's worth sending it to someone, even if you're a DIY. North Hollywood Speedometer. $100, cleaned, repaired, dial repainted and calibrated.
