Need to borrow a Porsche engine yoke in Atlanta.

Any local Pelicans have an special Porsche engine yolk they would be willing to lend for a few months?

I've got my replacement engine on a stand using a universal mount providing numerous limitations. (1) Engine is too close to the stand and wont spin without hitting the mounting bolts (2) can't remove flywheel (3) can't remove exhaust crossover pipe to punch out frozen bolt remnants.

If nobody local steps forward, I'll gladly pay shipping costs outside the Atlanta area.

Thanks!

Mark you can have mine. I live in Conyers and Work in Mcdonough, either of those close?

I dont have the porsche one I have the aftermarket piece that bolts to your regular stand. It looks like the front half of the porsche Yolk.

Thanks Eric but do you think it will give me enough clearance? I need at least 1-1/2 inches addl clearance from the engine stand to cleare the longest bolt and the HE's and Ild like to be able to remove the flywheel on the stand....still looks light it may be too tight a fit.

Here are so pics showing my current situation:

I need to remove this crossover tube which won't clear this mounting point...

.....in order to puch out these frozen bolts (cut-off on both sides but can't punch them out b/c of flez tube aborbing impact)

Just drill the bolts out, it's easy.

No it will give you an inch maybe. It would allow you to careully rig up some pipe and high guality bolts to "stand it off" a few inches like the factory one. It spreads the force out over the entire back of the motor so you can get more creative with your mounts. If you spaced off your current situation it might make such a big lever that it pulled the threads on the case.

Erik, I think I'd like to take you up on your offer....one of my lower mounting points is actually binding on the flywheel teeth which can't be good.

Will shoot you a PM.

Thanks!

Erik, thanks for letting me borrower your Porsche Adapter Ring. The HE relief on the ring did not quite match up with the HE/Crossover Pipe joint but was able to get it on although it was a very tight fit. I've read about the same issue with the P201 engine fixture.

Still not able to rotate the engine as the HE's are in the way but certainly a better set up than my u-mount. I would still like to to rotate the engine to clean, replace parts and drill out some broken bolts........So, I sold some crap on ebay and ordered a P201 from Pelican (it will be here on Friday) ! Can never have too many tools - right?

I'll PM you to see when would be a good time to return your adapter ring and take a look at your RSR project - looking good!

Cool, can I have any adapters you made to make it work :-) I only used the P201 with SSIs and there was no issues. I am going to take a grinder or whatever to that thing to make it work when I need it. Its no use if it does not work. I wonder I I could weld on some standoffs?? Yo did not take a pic of it on there by chance?

Erik, unfortunatley I never got that far. I was able to get the ring on but I had to pry it off b/c it was binding on the crossover tube and blocking access to the bolts and the pipe that I was trying to remove. In addition, I was having trouble getting the thing to fit the u-mount. I found some pics that show how to set it up but ended up bailing before going that far ( I often have the attention span of a hungry monkey?).

Here's the pics on a set up that appears to work. However, I do think the slot and arm lengths vary on these u-mounts from mfg to mfg. I could not get it to set up this way on the mount than came with my stand and I don't recall tyring it on yours. A puzzle for another day I guess.

Based on the red intake, this looks like JeremyD's engine He must have excelled at the rubiks' cube!

Interesting he attached the adapter to the engine stand and then the adapter to the engine. I thought the bolts would do double duty (all the way through the stand and the adapter ring into the block).

Glad I saw that picture. If he spaced the ring off another inch or so from the stand he would have as much room behind it as the P201.

hmm

Crud,
If I had seen this post earlier I would have lent you mine.
I added some sockets to give more depth. The pic should explain it...

Erik,
The 87 has been on jack stands for about 2 years and has just been sitting. It looks sad and needs some loving
I have the steel to build a rotisserie but I have been busy working on the 944, tracking it etc...

Wish I could. The loan workout business in this economy is off the chain.

Eric, the P201 arrived this AM. Here is a pic showing a very slight variance in the position of the HE relief notch (approx 1/8"). Not sure if this will make any difference in the fit....I'll let you know.
