RS Door panels with speaker perforations

Bob at APPBIZ here

At the request of several customers we have added an option to our door panel sets. Like many of you, these customers did not want to forgo their sound system in their fun car but didn't want the weight, obstruction or hassle of surface mount speaker grills. We had a die made that punches a series of holes in the speaker reigon of our panels. This option is available on all of our door panels. The additional cost for this option is $30. When contacting your pelican rep have him or her add -SP to the part number.

Shown is our RS America Plus panel covered in Black leather with our Stainless steel power window bezels installed and the speaker perforation option

I think most of you will agree the idea was a good one and that the results are spectacular.

If you are a previous customer and wish to have your panels redone with the perforated cover please give me a call.

As always I welcome your questions or comments and wish to thank all of you for your ongoing support.
Bob

Looks great, have you considered offering them covered in alcantara or similar?

Mark.
If your the Mark I'm thinking of those are yours! They Shipped out yesterday (Thurs). We tested the die on a vinyl set before making yours. But thought it would be nice to show a leather Plus version (With strorage pocket) in the pics. Really would like for you to post some pics as soon as you get them installed.

I sure will Bob, a before and after. As good looking as they are I have no doubt they will add at the very least, what? 7bhp each?

Well not sure about the 14 bhp increase, but you will be able to listen to your "Days of Thunder" soundtrack...... LOL
Did you head down to the car stereo store and look at your speaker choices?
Pretty Excited about this option!

Yes, I'd like to know what speaker options are available, and how they (the speakers) are attached. I could careless about the stereo, but my kids like to listen...

We have always suggested that our cutomers anchor the speaker to the door, rather than the door panel. This keeps the weight of the speaker from constantly flexing the panel as the door is opened and closed. This is second only to moisture as the primary cause of door panel failure.

Not yet Bob, I have a friend that is an expert with audio equipment. I'm going to have him go with me so I get the right speakers. Will document the process with pictures.

I went with Boston SX55's. They have a built in crossover and tweeter. I basically enjoy the sound of the car and have the radio for auxiliary noise I had tweeters separate on the OEM panels but didn't want those sticking out. That's why I chose the SX55's. The sound is good through the perforated holes, no muffled noise. I did have the store install them as I wanted them done correctly and I know my limitations! They had to make a custom plate to attach to the door as the speaker is a 5 1/4" and the hole in the door is just a bit larger.
