H4 lens replacement...help

i've searched Pelican & Rennlist but i can't find a tuttorial on H4 lens replacement. I'm sure some of you have done this...any tricks U can share.
i've disassembled the light and picked the glass shards from the rubber seal (in hindsight should have ordered another) but the spring clips are slightly different shapes Anyway hoping someone can give me some pointers as i don't want to remove/disassemble another light. tia.

Bill,

Thanks, but that's not what i'm looking for. i already have h4's, i received a rock courtesy of Caltrans so my h4 is apart awaiting a new lens install. There are 10 spring clips of slightly different dimensions that afix the lens assembly to the headlight shroud and this is where i'm stalled.
Yes we can.

When i did mine there was nothing to fancy to it although the clips on mine were all the same dimension. I just tried to follow the same pattern as the other light. hopefully you still have one light that is together that you can use to go off of or maybe someone can post a pic.

Just randomly space them around the ring. Leave some gaps away from where the top hooks onto the lip and also where bottom screw is and you should be fine.

Robert,
i was hoping to not have to do that. Anytime an H4 is on the car i'd just as soon leave it that way Re: my spring clips 5 are similar to each other, 4 are similar and 1 is unique.

My bad, I didn't fully read your post.
+1 to the comparing to your good H4. Maybe someone could post a couple of pictures of their uninstalled lights.
Good luck!

I recently took mine totally apart (to paint the black rings red) and like madmmac said, just put the spring/wire retainers back in a rather evenly spaced arrangement. I honestly don't know what is the difference between the two types of retainer. Maybe one can go over/under the other depending on shape?

Although I did make a sketch of the retainers the first time I took them apart. I can post it for you if you'd like.
