Made some Yellow H4's

Thumbs up or thumbs down?

I'm digging them.

I like them...they certainly look better on some cars than others, though. It does appear to go well with the Coco.

H4 lenses (I used replica's)+ Duplicolor Metalcast Yellow spray paint, paint the inside of the lenses.

More coats = darker shade, and it's important to keep everything even, and uniform when spraying.

I like it! In fact I've been looking for paint to do my driving lights in yellow, I love that old French car look.

Yeah, that's why I bought a second set of replica's to transform. Still have the real H4's when I want to change back.

I use a hoby type of red paint and painted my signal lense before. Covered with a clear coat. Look beautiful but only last about a year or so. After that, it slowly become dull and very ugly. Then I had to use nail poish remover with a lot of mussle to removing them all. I love the french yellow light but this is what I affraid. Yours look beautiful.
Good luck.

I did a set of fogs about 6 years ago, and they still look great so it must be the paint. The Metalcast is made for high heat, and the inside of the lense does get warm...

Bought them here

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-PORSCHE-911-STYLE-H4-FLUTED-HEADLIGHT-GLASS-PAIR-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a1Q7c 39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em14QQhas hZitem370105802219QQitemZ370105802219QQptZOtherQ5f VehicleQ5fParts

price was to good to pass up for this experiment. I'm guessing made in India, Glass quality was not great (rough edges and tiny bubbles) but for the purpose and getting painted anyhow, they work.

Here is the correct paint:

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html

There now you know all my secrets Not bad for a 35dollar investment.

How 'bout a VERY light shade of blue..... so as not to go after the ricer look but still use hi-watt bulbs and look somewhat real as to HID ??

Looks pretty good, I have been looking for the real deal for awhile now, hard to come by. Did you use any kind of adhesion promoter? Jamie

Does the lens fit well?

What is the procedure of painting? Do yo just clean it well, then spray it? How many coats?

thanks for your help

I LOVE IT.....I bought the lexan headlight covers from our host. Used stained glass paint on the inside side of the lens. Looks amazing. Best part......they are illegal in CA but I can remove them with 2 thumbscrews and still have my clear lenses. Take that coppers!
