Decklid question - tail vs. grille
Quick question:
For the "regular" Carrera spoiler/whaletail (NOT the turbo tail), is the decklid the same as the regular non-spoilered car? That is to say, does the tail simply bolt into the space where the grille is on a regular car? It seems like many of the cars I've looked at have tails, and I don't want one. Wondering if it's as easy as removing tail/replacing grille, or do I need to swap decklids? Thanks in advance. |

I bought the complete decklid & spoiler because I wasn't sure I wanted to drill my original decklid for the Carrera tail. For the price, I think it was a great decision for me, and then when I was sure, I was able to sell the decklid only. You might find this a better way to go too... once you drill, that's it.

Exactly. It almost never makes sense to separate the tail and the lid. All the lids are (pretty much) the same up to and including the 964, but adding the tail means cutting holes in the decklid. Removing the tail means welding up those holes and repainting the lid, which will cost you more than a used lid. If you don't want the tail on a car, sell the tail and the lid as a unit and buy a used lid and get it painted.
