No, I think the 9 refers to Porsche. I'll do some digging on this for you. I'd like to know the VIN for my records however.

Great, that helps my research a lot. Have you got the COA? That should provide the correct color name. I suspect it is a "custom" color, so that makes the car a little more unusual.

That code is not listed on my favorite color site: http://www.elferhelfer.com/farben.htm but it is on this page: http://members.rennlist.com/tweedt/glasurit.htm as dunkelgrun metallic.

That is a definitive source. Translates to Dark Green metallic. It must have superseded 221 in 1972. As much as I use http://www.elferhelfer.com/farben.htm as a source, I find they have a lot of errors and omissions. There are certainly a lot of codes used in a year that are not listed in the usual sources. Thus what I am trying to do is to collect actual badge paint codes that are matched to a VIN to produce a comprehensive list of paint codes used each year.

How do you collect these codes? Is it your intention to publish them on the internet? Pictures of cars included?

I really would like to have access to a correct and complete list of paint colours with year and photos. Neither elferhelfer nor 356-911 have been updated for the last years as far as I can see.

Regards,

Einar Irgens

Perhaps Pelican will be willing to put the paint codes in their new technical pages.
I collect codes by searching through threads here and elsewhere. I'm particularly interested in codes that are not found in the usual sources. Perhaps I should start my own thread, asking for more information.
