Looking for muffler advise
Has anyone ever purchased a new muffler for a 1969-1973 911 and found it to fit perfectly? I am having trouble finding one that fits like the factory muffler does. The problem is in the bend for the single outlet. When you attach the chrome tip, it sticks too far out and looks wrong!! You can't push it on any further because it hits the bend. Some manufactures are even selling them with the wrong diameter outlet, and the chrome tip won't even slide on.
If anyone has ever had any luck with new mufflers, could you please inform me as to where you purchased them from and /or the maker? This is going on a concourse car and everything has to be correct. Any help would be apricated!!! Joe |

You could ask Stoddards or Sierra Madre and see what they have to say.

"Correct" mufflers are pretty much "unobtanium" today. They all have issues, regardless of manufacturer. Solutions include cutting off, repositioning, and re-welding both inlet and outlet pipes. The inlets are typically re-used, just re-positioned. The outlet may have to be a new piece, with the correct bend, placed in the correct position. Today's mufflers, even from OEM's like Dansk, are sometimes both incorrect and inconsistent. Nothing a good welder can't fix, though.
