Hi,
I've been trying to ship a p-car racing seat to Texas from Mass but UPS wont take it, saying it's too large. FEDEX wants to charge $350.00 for the lowest price. The seat is approx. 39" x 29" x 22" Anyone have any ideas on the cheapest way to ship it? Thanks. ------------------ 83 sc euro cab |

Greyhound will often take things that are too big for UPS and the prices are reasonable, too.
Seems kind of appropriate given that it's a racing seat ![]() ------------------ Rod Walter '88 911 coupe |

In addition to Greyhound, check out Amtrak Express:
http://www.amtrakexpress.com/packageexpress.shtml Note that "car seats" are exempt from their 36x36x36 size limits. Also look at: http://www.intershipper.net/ http://www.yellowfreight.com/ ------------------ Jack Olsen 1973 911 T (3.6) sunroof coupe jackolsen@mediaone.net [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 05-29-2001).] |

I sent two Recaro Sport seats from my 89 UPS in the boxes my SRD's came in about 6 months ago. Did things change recently? Had no problems and I think the cost was about $50-60. It seems they are more concerned about weight then anything. You could try DHL also.

Hmmm, I shipped a pair of recaro sport seats last year via UPS as well. Not the slightest comment, and they were quite heavy and large. Perhaps they changed their size limits?

Try Yellow Freight in Reading (on Concord Rd off rt62). I used them to ship a rear trunk lid from my 914.

![]() I just got seats by UPS. The box was basically shaped like the seat, I wish I had a picture. The base was a normal box shape but it was trimmed to be more like an overall trapezoid because there would have been a big void in there otherwise. Just box up the seats and call UPS to come pick them up. Chances are when they get to your place they won't complain they'll just take 'em. Officially they have to deny the request but it's a different story when the guy in the brown stuff is at your place and you're handing him some cash. I hope this works out for you. |
