Stainless exhaust - what type is it?
Pretty well the only part on my car that is non original is the exhaust.
A PO fitted a stainless exhaust. Out of interest just wondering if anyone can identify it's brand or type? thanks ![]() ![]() ![]()

More interesting is that plastic box around your motor!
Is that something specific to Oz, perhaps to meet local noise requirements? I haven't seen that before. That has to be bad for engine temps.

What is the source of that car.
The box looks like something to control noise. |

PS, get rid of it so your motor will run cooler and last longer.

+2 on getting rid of the cover. I thought the 993 was the only car to have something like this ex factory (the drip tray).
Kevin at K-tec would be one guy to see on the west coast there if you arent working on it yourself.

Man that is a wild looking shroud. Some work went into pruducing that piece.
I think after being on there for 20 years it's a little late to pull it off in hopes of increasing engine life. ![]()

How do you adjust your valves with that cover?

I am not sure but I think Sweden had strict noise restrictions.
It is only to late to take it off if the motor has already suffered heat damage. It is a generally accepted to take the diaper off the 89-94 Carrera to. Especially if the new owner drives it hard or is running it in a hotter climate. I would not do a DE with that on. Besides it should help better that beautiful air cooled symphony we all love. Just my two cents worth and not worth a penny more. ![]() |

there is actually a thread specifically discussing this shroud:
Carrera engine/sound cover?? Remove for concourse or not? pics inside The consensus is that I shoiuld remove it which I am going to do after the concourse event. The car has lived all it's life in Canberra (Australia's Capital) which is a relatively cooler part of Australia. Now that I have purchased it and brough it to Perth which is much warmer I agree that I should remove it. To do any type of work other than changing oil such as valve adjustments you would need to remove the shroud. cheers,
