Glue traps scattered liberally throughout the garage. Put them at the base of the walls. After finding mice in the Boxster numerous times, this is the only thing that works for us. I keep 4 traps inside the Boxster too...AND CHECK THEM OFTEN...lesson learned.

For some reason they respect the 911 and don't nest in there.

Just get some snakes.. they'll take care of the mice - of course, then you're stuck with snakes.

Sounds like you have the common gay mice species. I would buy something even more homo than the Boxster for them to migrate to... I'd recommend a Prius or if you are on a budget, a Mitsubishi Eclipse with a very large wing on it

I think Formerly Steve is right, but I have had good results with moth balls. The thing with moth balls is that they are toxic, and you need to use a lot of them, so the smell is strong. I put them on a number of small trays, which I put in all the compartments of a car.

I finally built a garage, tightened the doors, and I still use traps. BTW, the poison that the pros use is most effective, and different than the stuff you can buy in stores. It causes the mice to get very thirsty over a period of days, and they wander off looking for water. If you use glue traps, also put a big dab of peanut butter in the middle. The problem with glue traps is that often the mouse will scream for hours, and this can serve as a warning to the other mice, so you only get one mouse.
Gretch over at the Rennlist 928 forum takes a five gallon bucket and puts a gallon of antifreeze in it. He then cuts the ends off a coke can and smears peanut butter on it. He puts it on a piece of coat hanger at the top of the bucket, and makes a wire mesh ramp to the edge of the bucket. The mice climb the ramp and jump on the coke can to get the peanut butter. As they can't hang on, they fall to their deaths.

I can vouch for the sticky traps. I've had trouble on and off over the years with mice in my M3 through the winter months. Luckily no damage but I was getting quite fed up with finding a nest in my trunk or engine area.

So a couple of years ago when I got my first Porsche I gave the sticky traps a try...viola! No mice in the cars. Plenty of stuck dead mice in the traps though!

I place several along the walls and pay particular attention to placing some right near the garage door opening. I also place a couple around each wheel of the cars.

I check them every day as sometimes a larger mouse (no not a rat!) will drag a trap elsewhere. I keep these sticky traps out year round as its great for keeping all sorts of crawling insects and spiders under control as well.

So far I've had no mice in my cars.

What worked for me was mothballs all over the garage floor under and around the car.
You needed a gas mask to go in there - but no mice.

A lot better than Irish Spring of urban myth - they ate that.

The only thing about the poison that makes them thirsty is that sometimes they don't wander far enough away before they find that water. Then you have a problem of exploded mice...apparently the poison expands greatly when mixed with water and *boom*...

Fortunately this only happened by a hot water heater that had a bit of a drip, apparently, and not in the car.

What about red squirells? I have one in my garage and he seems to be quite comfy in there (along with the mice - I believe they hold a poker game every Thursday night). I think that a glue trap would be insufficient for such a large critter. I've tried finding/blocking any large entrances and exits, but he seems to still find his way in.

I've heard black pepper may be effective as well, but have yet to try it. And what about those sonic do-dads that supposedly emmit high-frequency sounds that rodents don't like?

Yep, I lived in the sticks for awhile and could never make a dent in the mouse population. I used to fall asleep every night to the snap, flutter, flutter of the 20-some Victor traps set up all over. Now that I live in civilization, a couple cats is all I need to annihilate virtually every rodent and small bird specie that happens upon the cats' turf.
But if you do have mice, I'd recommend the gluetraps as well. Better than a dead mouse you can smell but not find.

Having a 70 Porsche 911T I frequently have Mickey and Minnie live together in my smugglers box. Before Minnie has a chance to put covers on the toilet seat and put brass ashtrays everywhere I have found that poison sprinkled in the box works the best. It dehydrates them and makes them leave the compartment looking for water before they die...................

With a trap if you forget to check it........well nature takes its course and your car starts to stink before you find the stiff rodents. A friend of mine was having an amourous moment with a young lady one night in his car and heard a SNAP with a bunch of rattling............it put a real damper on the evening.
