Unfortunately both your photos show the loaded side of the car so I cant tell what you look like at a steady state.. Do you autocross? Gaads.. that drove me nuts... 8 hrs of work for 20 minutes of fun.. (scca.. not porsche club)... BUt then again road racing emptied my pockets so I guess its all relative.

I do not have a good shot of my car standing still. I can tell you that nothing rubs.

I do only local PCA Autocross, start at 8, done by about 1, get 6-8+ runs. Road racing is too risky for me as I do not want to leave my ride behind. On the other hand, AX does give me a chance to feed my need to compete. As you noted, SCCA here is not as much fun either. Start at 8, done at 12, 3 runs and you are done.

Im not gonna worry about rubbing then.. you are way lower than me.

Done at 1???? Hell when I was doing it it was an all day deal and I got 4 runs.. Milwaukee, WI..

Yeah, here is my road racing AND track event phylosophy:

If you cannot throw it in the dumpster at the end of the day without wanting to kill yourself you got no business being there. Road racing his a whole other deal anyway.. you just dont drive off the street and run. I used to instruct for the BMWCCA and the SCCA and I have seen some guys in new street cars hurt every single panel at the kink at road america.. it is not a pretty sight to see a man in tears (wasnt MY student! ;) )

Anyway.. I cannot say how THRILLED I am at how my car now drives.. I think that the Konis were lifting my ass end up and thats why I was at a whopping 27". Im soooo glad I did this. I have not read where one person was this high from the factory.

By the way one last dig on the corner weight evangelists: If it were so incredibly important for STREET driving wouldnt it be in the Porsche repair manual? Wouldnt they corner weight each car at the factor. If you need help, the correct answer would be YES. ;)

Oh and on top of 3rd gear working a ton better my tires are now much better balanced.. Ive been fighting vibrations for several months ( I do my own balancing) and its near gone now. Very odd.. I must have done something real good to get this much Karma.

EDIT: was your sway bar broke in the top photo? almost looks like its dragging on the ground???

Glad you got it worked out. Good to hear your car is working much better.

That thing you see hanging down is my rear adjustable sway bracket slider and it is NOT broken but does look weird.

FWIW: From what others have told me, the factory does corner balance the cars before they leave the factory. On the street, it is not as critical but the weights need to be close.

I can also say that after I redid my 130,000 mile suspension, the car worked much better as I was able to rotate it in a controlled manner and it did not misbehave in the rapid transitions.

I do not think the factory corner weighted out cars. I have found no evidence of this and the service manual pretty much proves that I am correct.

You nailed it.. the corner weights should be close for street driving. This is why the Porsche service manual has you set them all to a specific height.. so they are close.. Fritz is not stoopid. ;)

The only problem with what I have done now is I am constantly wanting to take it out for a drive... I cant come up with an excuse at the moment.. last night it was dog food. If you think of something let me know.

The service manual may not use the concept of corner balancing ..per se...in the usual terms we all use here....but it DOES talk about left-to-right overall weight balance having to be within certain bounds...something like 20 lbs or so...and slightly different numbers for Turbos than narrow-bodied cars.....

I stand corrected then.. Ive never seen that. Guess I'll go ahead and shell out the $250 to have it done.. dont really have it but its gotta be done right. Thanks for correcting me!
