wheel refinishing whos best for the money?

I have a 75, 911s targa. i want to get my original fuchs refinished original (reanodized, black centers etc). I want them to look nice and original, concourse is not necessary. I have a quote from Weidman's wheels for $400 a wheel and Wheel enhancement for $200 a wheel. Anyone use Wheel enhancement and can make a recommendation? Is there a better place to send them for the money? Is Weidman worth the extra $$?

Thanks

- yes for concours level or specially magic Rgruppe wheels.

do a search on Early 911s bbs - I posted detailed pics of my Al Reed finished wheels there.

Al is not as cheap as he used to be.

I'd use him if he is cheaper than Harvey and you just want a very good job - but not an A+ one.

cheapest is DIY

Al Reed is "the best for the money." It is my opinion that his clear anodize is clear powder coat. I can't say for sure, but there are no anodizing tanks at his facility and there is an oven. Personally, I like Al and Diane and do business with them. No doubt HW knows his stuff. I've met him and seen the workmanship. It's tops, but 400 a wheel sounds high to me.

I used Wheel Enhancement!! They did a FANTASTIC job!!! I had an original set of Fuchs, 7 and 8's, that they did...absolutely perfect. I tried to have them done locally but the shop failed, could not get through the original anodize. They look as good as new. Paid $800 plus shipping. They took about 6 weeks to do the job.
Highly recommend!

Al + Diane Reed have done a wonderful job on all my projects. They were always fair on the pricing, considerate of the schedule and the craftsmanship as described.

compare prices, wait time & quality - both guys have good reps.; there are several differences between them if you read thru those threads

BTW - have you tried just warming the wheels up and massaging them with vasoline for a few hours?

they respond better to that than do many women...

My wheels have the anodizing polished off already, they need to be reanodized to look right. I do have others that I will try the vasoline on. How long do they look good after you do that? How long till they get dull again?

Thanks

Yep I've lived in NE PDX for several years now, moved up from California...long story. If you havn't lived here long and get depressed, get in touch. I can tell you simple strategies to get through the winter without prescription antidepressants. I'f you've only been here 4 months, it is the next 4 months that can get to you.
