blemished tires?
tell me about blems. Could they be structural or just looks? would you put it on your car?

The could be structural but I suspect that is as likely as a structural problem on a non blem tire.
Tire companies are EXTREMELY sensitive to product liability issues. (Ask Bridgestone and Firestone how they feel about being sued for tires that failed when they were massively underinflated and then having to recall all of them.) If there was any part of the blemish that was a safety issue they wouldn't let them out the door.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a blem if the price was stupid low.

The problem with blem tires is sometimes they are out of round or have heavy spots that can't be balanced out...if you can live with the possibility of a vibration sometimes they are a good alternative

I worked for Goodyear while in college and as others have said, blems are safe. Back in the day, they could be a good bargain when tires were bias-ply and radials were the exotics. Don't know much about the price differences today but if the blem is purely cosmetic (as opposed to imbalances) then they should be worthy of consideration.
