Nice car!
I just removed the compressor from my '87. Yes, it's not a lot of weight but it's hung pretty rearward and the removal makes the engine compartment look better and more focused. Reinstall is easy and I think can be done in less than 30 minutes if you are selling the car someday

This forum is incredible, I hope I can make a decent contribution one day. I am going to keep the A/C in, remove the compressor but leave the mount. It looses some weight, cleans up the engine bay and looks like a clean job in and out. If the A/C could be put back in action easily I might do that but I would never use it and life tells me if something isn't used it generally stops working at some ppoint anyway.

I also like some of the other suggestions. I'll post a before after once the motor is back in - also deciding on engine fan, currently gloss black housing with silver fan but might change it.

This is it as I bought - more to come....

I'm in the same predicament. A/C I that doesn't work, and I haven't fixed it anyway. Thanks for the great advice from all.

But, what do I do with the open hose ends after I remove my compressor and evap from the engine compartment?

Guidance would be appreciated!

This is what I did a few years back:

I took some PE wrap from the kitchen to wrap the the open hose end and just displace the hose to under the oil filter.

I didn't remove the evap because my turbo tail was off and I need the evap to work as grill for now :D Any one has a spare engine lid grill for sale?:)

Dang man, put that A/C back in and go buy bunch of stock! We are all counting on YOU.
