Motronic tach -- change to retro look?

Has anyone here put an early gauge indicator needle on a Motronic tach? I have a 3.2 in my '72 and would like a tach that a.) works and b.) looks like the other gauges. I'm not afraid to open up the tach, but I'm looking for assurance that I can swap needles before I do!
