New use for Top Dead Center sensor
The TDC sensor is useless anyhow but after adding the TEC3r it is now just bench fill. The idea hit me that perhaps it could be reused as a wheel sensor. I am thinking mounted to the tranny and set to pickup something off of the axle hub.
I assume it is a hall effect sensor which picks up that little stud. Could the sensor be used to pickup the passing heads of the axle shaft bolts. Any of the amazing electronics types out there have an idea of how I would wire such a sensor. The TEC3r can be set to pickup about any kind of signal from what I understand. Input, ideas, should I forget it. Don't really even know what such data would be used for unless I get another and put on each side to check for speed difference indicating wheel spin on launch or how hard the diff must be working. Could just be a lack of sleep....

Seems like a lot of work to go to considering the availability of the sensors. Head down to your local junkyard - there should be one under most of the cars after the mid 90s. 92ish+ ford pickups have them right on the rear axle, one bolt and it's right there.
You'll end up with a lot of granularity in the data if you were to use the bolts. The tone rings they use for ABS and Speedometers have lots and lots of teeth for this reason.

Well, every electronic Porsche speedometer uses 8 pulses per wheel rotation for its input to measure speed and distance traveled. It is a reed contact producing a square wave.
A hall sensor needs some circuitry to convert the reluctance signal to a square wave output. There is a CS1124 Interface IC from ON Semiconductor that can be used. Google it to get its data sheet. Ingo
