Update Ignition System

I posted a thread on twin plug or not and after much research I am not sure if it is the best thing to do or not.

Is there a plug / coil / ignition upgrade I could do that would get me almost as good as twin plugging?

2.7 RS 10.5 compression, very wild cams

Thanks

back off the timing and run better fuel.

I will do that for sure but should I upgrade from the stock coil?

It couldn't hurt, but it is certainly no substitute for twin plugging.
Edit: Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems has a good explanation here (article #6).

Dave,

The ONLY downside to twin-ignition on a 911 is the expense,.....:)

There are many benefits that include improved torque, quicker throttle response, cleaner running, and improved resistance to detonation. The latter item becomes much more critical when compression ratios exceed 9.7:1 on pump gasolines.

Without knowing all the details of your engine including what octane fuel you plan on using, I couldn't offer anything more specific,...:)

I am starting to think twin plugging is the best thing to do. Thanks for the advice.
