exterior temperature sensor graph
In-law let me use their Mitchell ondemand login,..plenty of reading to do, TSBs alone.
Found this piece for a 1989 Silver Anniversary Edition exterior temp gauge. States that the sensor is located within the fog light assembly...I thought it was within the sideview mirror,..mmmm.... ![]() Best, Doyle

Doyle,
Have you noticed that the displayed temp is about 5* higher than ambient...mine is. I'm not sure there is any adjustment that one can make. At first I thought the higher reading might be due to an increase in the system resistance but looking at your chart it appears that higher resistance equals lower temp reading. David

Yes, I have. The TSB states that "with a certain resistance reading at the sensor, a variation of temp range of several degrees is normal". I guess "several" could be ~5, no?
No adjustments...I've not checked mine against actual temp but will and report back. Checking it against the Wife's Camry gauge, our experiences seem quite similar. Maybe (soon), I'll get out there and actually see what the sensor's values are over ranges. At least get in there and check connections/resistance. Best, Doyle

that curve is typical of a thermistor
once reason I hate them and only use nice linear thermocouples... |

Glad to hear that. I've noticed that the error is greatest at colder ambient temps. In the summer it seems to more accurately reflect actual temps.
