Rear TB Covers - Early vs. G50
The rear torsion bar covers on the early cars look beefier than those on the G50 cars.
Just to confirm - It is safe to place the jack stand under the G50 rear torsion bar cover, correct? Thanks!

You mean the spring plate tubes that the torsion bars are in? The G50 tubes are longer than the 86-earlier cars, but they're still plenty sturdy to put your jack stands upon. Just make sure you put the jack stands as close to the bushing retainer plates as possible.
If you're referring to the bushing retainer plates themselves that bolt into the chassis tub, i'd not put your jack stands on these. They're just stamped steel and you don't want to dent them- would make bushing replacement a real pain in the future.

The spring plate covers are the same between G50 and earlier cars (minor differences on the really early cars).
However, not a good place for jack stands. You can't get the spring plate centered on the stand due to the chassis proximity. The propensity to slip off is too great. Instead, put the jack stands under the torsion tube. It won't slip off, is plenty strong, and gets the jackstand out of your way for most all jobs.
