Japanese tune styling 911s *high picture/bandwidth*

Hey guys, thought id share some pics I came upon on a borred night.... Some pics of 911s from Japan.

As you can see, the styling is different. Typically japanese brand wheels, mostly multipiece, and some form of aggressive front bumper, or bodykit. I know the looks may not suit some of the porsche purists, but it is an interesting observation. What do you guys think? Im curious if most of these are running with wheel adapters?

I do not know japanese, but i admire the cars. I sourced the pics from a japanese car blog site , its not hard to navigate by randomly clicking on links and pictures
http://minkara.carview.co.jp/car/465/

Heres some pics.

thx for posting

- looks are too "tricked up" for me -- but, hey, I prefer the original shape to the later cars with flares. Talkin' 'bout the flares on a '70 too...

now, the 200GT was gorgeous

Interesting what style is popular in Japan.

Apparently the 930S Flachbaus were mucho popular in Japan. Bruce Anderson told me the demand was so great that both oldstyle flatnose and later 968 style popup flatnoses were produced in the SAME model year; the old style being still popular in Japan. A lot of these cars pop up nowadays because of the tax structure on older cars in Japan.....both RHD and LHD. Importing from Yokohama to Vancouver for 15 yo 911s is relatively painless.

I post my project updates to this forum/ community.

http://minkara.carview.co.jp/

it's a little tricky to navigate the site if you don't do their language. I have been posting my 3.6L conversion updates and have drawn good traffic. The site is structured very differently than the Pelican and other forums we are used to.
...sorry side tracked...now back to the subject...

there has been a thread on the subject close to this. Search for "Rauh-welt" and you'd run into more of this.
i in fact went out and met the guy who runs Rauh-welt. The guy is considered a king who established a particular drifting style with that legendary AE86... His body styling is radical but the motors he puts into his creation are also quite extreme, built at a shop called Promodet - which I also went to visit. 3.8 + PMO 50 + mirror polished and widened port heads + titanium exhaust...

I like it somewhat, but with the styling, you loose some drivability with the ride height.

While some of them look okay, in general I don't think that big, flashy, "look at me!" kind of styling goes well on the 911.

haha the whole NOS decals /Fast and furious look is more generally a American trend.. theres alot of tastefully modded cars in Japan that are no where near the crap we have in the US.

Alois Ruf

I believe Ruf had a big impact on the tuners in Japan. It seems like those new modded ones are a modern interpretation of this model from the 70's ? It is one of the first RUF converted 911's with a huge turbo. I am not sure if it started as a turbo or whether a regular Carrera was converted. It has never been restored (full of rock chips and comes with a riveted rear fenders), but supposedly still good for 180 MPH.

Thanks for posting. I like most of the cars especially the blue one. Not sure I care for the huge rear spoilers but the wingletts in front are very cool.
