Indeed. It only took me two-and-a-half years after posting the original inquiry.
On the other hand, you can see I'm getting near the finish line of what was a fairly large to-do list. ;) Brian |
Hi Guys, would anyone have the dimensions for the straps? My car is a 993 but they're probably all the same. My straps are nylon from the main 'hoop' or b-pillar to the looped section on the folding bow. The elastic part from the bow to the a-pillar is missing on my car and I'm trying to figure out the spec for what should be in there.
If anyone knows the length and thickness and type of elastic used in the elastic section it would be great. These straps aren't cheap down here in Australia and I don't want to pay $500AU for two strips of elastic! |

OK, I looked at my top and it's difficult to determine the exact length dimensions of these two parallel straps. They're basically 1-inch in width. The length of the non-elastic web front section that runs from somewhere under the header trim to the bow is roughly 12 inches or so. I can't tell where the strap terminates under the header trim or how it terminates under there. The back section, which is elastic, is also something like 12 inches or so, but, again, it's difficult to tell the exact length because where it terminates in the rear is under the trim. There's roughly 8 to 9 inches of elastic or webbing visible on each side of the bow. This doesn't count the loops of elastic around the bow to help correctly guide it into position as the top goes up and down.
I hope this helps you out a bit. Someone who's had a cabriolet top completely apart could provide more information. Brian |
