Factory Option Code 494 - What is it?

I received the COA information on my '76 Carrera RS today and can make sense of all listed options except the #494 code. None of my old code charts have it listed and the very nice ladies at the COA department don't know either. Here is what was sent...

Engine 6668116
Trans 169702

Grand Prix White
Black Leatherette

RearSpoiler, 425
Manual Antenna, Left with Loudspeakers, 440
5 Speed Trans, 481
??, 494
Chrome Parts in matt-finished black, headlight rings in exterior color, 496
Tinted Glass All Around, 568
Dunlop Tires
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any ideas or help is appreciated. The car does have limited slip, could that be what the code stands for?

Thanks, John

Thanks, Tony. The car does have the factory rear deck speaker enclosure. Where did you find the code meaning listed?

Merry Christmas. John

In the Bruce Anderson book, Porsche 911 Performance Handbook. There is a list of a lot, but not all, of the codes there.
Merry Christmas as well.

From various reference sources, I did find some information that looks to be in conflict with the COA.

M425-Rear Window Wiper, not rear spoiler.

M220-Factory LSD 80%

For some reason, I can't locate information on engine number: 6668116?????

With some of the data incorrect on the COA, I would really take a close look at it to check for anymore mistakes. Tony.

Strange engine number. Per Peter Morgan (the original 911) 666 as first digits is normally a Carrera 3.0 engine but they go up to 6661385 for coupe & targa and start at 6669001 for a sportomatic. Sure you have a '76 RS (since the were only built in model year 72 and 73 (74 for the 3.0 RS))?

this site supports exactly what Mark020 says. You want to check your vin as well as engine type. Double check your engine number while you're at it.
BA's book also says the 425 option is rear wiper. It does not list 440 but everything else checks out same as the COA.

I've ordered COAs for 3 different cars and 2 of them had glaring errors. From discussions here and on rennlist, it appears at least half of all COAs issued have errors in them.

My car's chassis number is 9116609073. This '9' digit is what leads me to the RS classification. There were just over 100 of these produced for the German market only to homologate (sp?) the MFI for one more year in '76. These cars were sold to racers and those with factory ties and are special for many different reasons as well as build specification. Not a normal European 2.7 Carrera, although the engine number 6668116 is a type 911/83.

Most everything is original and definitely numbers matching correct on this car, I just didn't know what the option code stood for. Thank you again for helping me identify it.

Here is a photo of the car's motor...
