My bro found a 69 T in a warehouse and bought it for his wife (anniversary gift). This was actually a very clever move on his behalf. Now she can't really complain about all the time spent on the p-cars because one of them is hers.
Maybe if I bought one for my girlfreind she wouldn't get so upset when I spend 24 consecutive hours working on mine (lol) ![]() Anyways, car currently has no batteries and is dual battery setup. I assume it needs two 12V. Am I correct in this assumption or did any 69's have a dual 6V setup? Thanks for the input. Here's a couple shots of the car. Beth is actually smiling in this picture and when my bro got home from work he said she was just sitting in the car with a big smile on her face...she had been there for hours (heh heh). ![]() ![]() Cheers! ------------------ Matt Macpherson 1975 911 S nvalve@yahoo.com |

Hi Matt,
Go with a stinger battery. They are dry cell batteries, very much like the Optima batteries, but they will fit in your exisiting battery box and you only need one. This will eliminate all possiblities of a leaking battery and rusted out boxes or suspension pieces. Hope this helps. http://www.stinger-aamp.com/ Marc |

Nice looking find! Yup, they are 12V batteries. For years, I ran the "OEM" dual setup, which I obtained at the local dealer. At last purchase, they were surprisingly inexpensive (for p-car dealer parts) at around $60-each.
Now I am running an Optima, sitting on its side in the left-hand battery box, with the Weltmeister lengthened hold-down and ground strap kit. Excellent upgrade - no leaks, ever, and it will likely outlast the wimpy stock batteries 2:1. (The factory batteries notoriously died on me every 24 months or so, like clockwork). Good luck, ------------------ Chris C. 73 914 2.0 70 911E Targa campbell.chris@gte.net |

I went with the Optima in the lefthand battery box. Justlove opening the hood and finding absolutely NONE of that white corrosive stuff that used to be there. I'd recommend a sealed battery for any car you plan on keeping.

Another option for sealed battery fans. Sonnenschein,a german battery company makes an exact sized gel cell for the dual battery early 911 models. I have a pair in my '72S. $$$pendy little buggers, but they are exact size. Look just like the originals sitting in there. They are the Sonnenschein dryfit A200, with another number 081 90640. I found a local (Albany, Oregon) battery company who could order them for me. No carpet rotting gases, no corrosion, no worries about rusted battery boxes? Was worth the $300 plus to me! Can't remember exactly, might have been closer to $400. Maybe a battery company near you could order for you, or if anyone expresses interest, I could post the company name & phone number, they could UPS them because they are sealed...OR (hint-HINT), now that Pelican has the info, they could stock 'em?

Nice car - seems to have the appearance group option (aluminium trim around the wheel arches, and you'll need to replace the tiny "hub-cap" from the right rear wheel...
The battery info is correct, although I prefer the original two 12V battery set-up, since the factory put them there for handling reasons. - roGER |

Thanks for the input lads,
Rogerk: I haven't yet referenced the serial #'s but I think it may be european model? or maybe just an option package. It also has electric sunroof and A/C. Furthermore it has a neat badge on the grill. ![]() Also note the decal on the lamps ![]() Clay: That one in the background is a 12. It's my bro's ride. 1967 912 (all origional)with 5 instrument dials and fuchs wheels. Amazinly light car (guess I don't have to tell you that though). What a pleasure to drive. ![]() Just love the new pic option. Hats off to Mr.W!!!!!!!!! ------------------ Matt Macpherson 1975 911 S nvalve@yahoo.com |

Those are Cibie headlamps. That is a DOT version, which is different from what I had (euro H4's) on my 70E for a while. Yours are US legal. Good lights.

Hi Matt - nice looking car.
Something doesn't look quite right about the wheels though - are they 14" Fuchs? (these were offered on the '69E as part of the 'comfort' package along with self-levelling front struts). Has it also got window-tint film applied to the inside of the windows? My '69 911E had these when I imported it from Ohio. Another (cheaper) battery option that nobody has mentioned yet is to go for 1 (high output) conventional lead/acid battery & fit it in the passenger side battery box). From memory this is what they did with the '73 Carrera RS. Campbell, thanks for the info on the lights.
Andy, I believe they are 14". (BTW the car is a T model). A funny thing is that the passenger rear tire is a much larger size than the others. Rims all the same though. Kinda makes the side view look a little strange. Car will be treated to new tires all around. Yes the tint has been added. Did you remove yours or live with it? I guess it doesn't look that bad. When going to a single battery are there any configurational mods that must be done to the set of terminals that won't be used? Thanks for all the input! ------------------ Matt Macpherson 1975 911 S nvalve@yahoo.com |

Your bro found it in a warehouse? Wow...such luck. Is it one of those "barn" stories with the 911 left by the son going to war, or was it something else? Can you get a closeup of those exhausts? Those are some fat tips! Great looking 911!

Yeah, he's... I mean she's the 3rd owner registered on the car. Pip could use a repaint but is pretty cool. Will be interesting to see how it sounds.

So the wife is going to be faster than the husband? Or does the 912 have a monster engine in it?

That 4-pipe sport muffler has got to be loud as hell! I love it.
The car appears to be sitting really high in the front end, but the rear looks about normal. Or is that just the way it was parked for the pics? Judging from the dirt/gravel surface, you may not want to lower it down too much though... |

It looks high because of the oddball big back tire (taller profile than the other 3). May also be neccessary to lower the front a tad. Luckily that's a cinch to do (compared to the back).

Hello
The factory RS light had only one battery in the driver side box. RS had an front oilcooler as standard. So the wight distribution wasn´t to bad. Just remove the secound plus cable to the other side. Open the clamp on the plus terminal that clamps both cables togehter. 69 was the first year for factory AC. But most of them where dealer equiped in the US. The smuggler box was originaly intentet to carry the battery but Porsche didn´t used that place for a battery. On Sportcars the gas heater was siting in there and on Race cars the oiltank. The exhaust could be a early Abarth unit. Later made by ANSA but with other end tips and distributet by Dr. Nöldeke. Also Supersprint had a similar design but other inerta. Had been copied in the staates and sold as Monza Exhaust. Just check if the plate to the left shows something to read. Grüsse |
