Is there a way to check engine numbers?

I bought a 88 3.2, and is there a website, and or a way to tell what year, body or vin from last car? Salvage, theft, etc?

Thanks

The fast way is that you can post the numbers and get an answer. Or you can look here: http://www.elferhelfer.com/fzident.htm#

You will only get a range of numbers that correspond to the correct year. If you want specific info on your specific engine number, you might have to purchase a COA from Porsche NA. I bel;ieve you need the VIN for that however. Salvage or theft...carfax.
