Where do you find the driver to remove the door hinge bolts?

Your question implies you need something special. I don't recall that being the case, so the smart ass answer is 'in the top drawer with all my other sockets'.

Are you referring to the bolts that hold the hinges to the body?

Gary,

I had the same question about 2 years ago about this topic and found the answer from Chad Plavan's post. Search for 'Plavan' and you'll find the picture of the tool he used for his door removal. I built a similar one for myself.

Found the thread:

Door removal sucks

Fixed it for you.

You need a 'dowel puller'.

If you're talking about early door hinge bolts with the 12-point heads, the drivers can be found on eBay in a set that will also drive the door striker bolts. Search under 12-point and/or triple-square.

Leave it to Porsche to have a special tool for a "simple" job. Can you imagine what that costs?

Thanks

A triple square driver set is $6 on eBay.

Try an 8mm 12-point (AKA triple square as mentioned above). The entire set was less than $10 at the local auto parts store. Anything else and you'll be drilling them out later.

On all my cars the door bolts have been hex head, and only the latch mechanism (on the body side) has been triple square.
